If I Had a Daughter: The Heart Behind Rooted Together
I can’t believe I’ve finally put out into the world what I plan to step into and lead — Rooted Together, a mother-daughter health and wellness program for moms and daughters ages 8–18. I’ll walk alongside you, helping create a safe space for honest conversations about hormones and body changes, nutrition, movement, self-confidence, identity in Christ, and so much more.
I feel like this is so needed… that it has to start younger. Over the past year or two, I kept thinking: If I had a daughter, what would I want her to know? What would I want her to believe about herself? What would I want her to feel?
I kept coming back to this: If I had a daughter, I wouldn’t want her to experience some of what I did. I’d want to have the words and ability to talk with her about the things that can sometimes be really hard or even uncomfortable, but are so important. Most importantly, I wouldn’t want her to feel the way I did for so long—hating my body, hating how I looked, constantly comparing myself to others, and feeling incredibly unhappy.
The truth is, so much of what culture, media, and society feed us is a lie. This next generation is being fed so many false messages, and it’s heartbreaking. We aren’t taught how to understand or steward our bodies well, and when something goes wrong, too often girls are overlooked at the doctor’s office or handed a pill to “fix” it all. I genuinely believe that’s why God put this program on my heart — because these conversations and guidance need to start earlier, not when things have already gotten hard or when health problems have already appeared.
There’s also just so much information out there, it’s overwhelming. Knowing what’s true, helpful, or what to do with it all can be hard. That’s why I created this 6-pillar program:
Pillar 1: Understanding Body Changes & Hormones
Pillar 2: Building a Healthy Relationship with Food
Pillar 3: Honoring Your Body Through Movement
Pillar 4: Cultivating Confidence and Resilience
Pillar 5: Prioritizing Self-Care and Emotional Wellness
Pillar 6: Strengthening Faith and Identity in Christ
I’ve also broken each pillar into three different age groups — 8–11, 12–14, and 15–18 — because as we grow, we can learn and understand things at a deeper level. There’s so much I know both my mom and I wish we had learned earlier, and that’s another big reason I created this program: to help others who may be struggling or don’t know these things, even though so much of it should be common knowledge (but sadly isn’t).
I’ve personally walked through anxiety, depression, and Hashimoto’s for most of my life. I’ve also had to navigate grief, weight gain, and being on birth control without really understanding the impact it was having on my body. My mom, a nurse practitioner for over 10 years, was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021. It was terrifying for our family, but by God’s grace, she’s now cancer-free and living differently because of it. Looking back, I couldn’t help but wonder: What if we had learned these things sooner? Would my mom have avoided cancer? Would I have made different health choices?
This is another reason Rooted Together exists — to help you and your daughter build strong foundations, so you can feel confident and equipped in your health for years to come.
More than anything, I want the next generation to know how to care for themselves — body, mind, and spirit. And I truly believe we can’t do that without God, the love and support of family and friends, and learning to care for ourselves. I’ve poured my heart into making this program as meaningful and comprehensive as possible. I genuinely believe many moms and daughters will walk away with life-changing knowledge and encouragement. I believe with all my heart that God’s hand has been in this, and it blows me away how lit up I get every time I work on it.
I’m so excited to launch the intro group this summer and get feedback from moms and daughters. I already have a running list of what’s to come next, because I know this is just the beginning of an incredible God-given dream — and I can’t wait to see what He does.
Please contact me if you want to join the Rooted Together intro group! We start on June 16th, and I would love you and your daughter to join us.
